The sun sets upon the UMN campus.

The Midwest Thermodynamics and Statistical Mechanics Conference (MTSM) is a regional forum for researchers in all aspects of thermodynamics and statistical mechanics to present their work. Faculty, researchers, postdocs, graduate, and undergraduate students from groups performing fundamental and applied thermodynamics and statistical mechanics research are encouraged to attend; we welcome research in theory, experiment, and computation for both hard and soft materials.

The 2026 MTSM conference will take place in Minneapolis from June 14-16, 2026 at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.

We have an exciting lineup of invited speakers, contributed talks, and poster presenters on topics related to thermodynamics and statistical mechanics.

MTSM 2026 is being hosted by Chris Bartel with funding support from UMN Research Computing, UMN CEMS, the Stahl Forum, and MN ACS. Please contact Chris ([email protected]) with any questions.
